The best thing for stains is homemade soap ! But I don't make it ! I always pick it up at craft shows. You use it like a stain stick, and wet the garment, and rub it on, and throw it in the washer.
My husband had a favorite shirt, that he though he ruined. He would put it on, and if the stain was still there he put it in the wash basket again. Now I have no idea how long he did this. I got the shirt and rubbed it on, and the stain came out. Now this shirt was in the washer and dryer umpteen time. And the stain came out ... after that I was his hero !

Great advice! I can't tell you how many articles of clothing are turned into 'grub clothes' because of grilling or cooking.
Maybe my wardrobe can be extended by reclaiming these. Hmmm...

I always buy the cheapest, and the ones with no scents. One time I bought a small bag of chips, and that worked great too.
One note ... I was keeping it in a small bowl, near my washer. I reached in to grab a chunk, and there wasn't any in there. A mouse had eaten it ... clean from the inside out ?

I'll try that one, Cindy...inexpensive AND works, and that's my favorite combination! Is it just plain glycerin that is the base for these soaps?

Oh no, not the glycerin soaps, the old homemade soaps that were made with lye. Thanx so much for asking, I didn't think of that ! !
